LOVE IN THE NATURE

In the city, accelerating towards development, where somehow, miraculously, greens still managed to subsist, it was a cessation of dark and dreadful night, and as premeditated by the mother nature, cutting through the edges of the mountain, which itself was a huge source of marbles, rose a red sector, the sun, transforming more into a circle. The charm of that view was intense enough for the citizens to stop their chores and experience the magic going from their eyes to their hearts. The sunlight beautified the river, which reflected the light and which was a major source for all animals and birds to quench their thirsts.

In the crowd of these millions of lives, also were two lives witnessing the same and letting the magic fill their heart with immense pleasure. Tommy and Betty, the two companions from birth, gazing at the sun, were thinking about their past.

The two didn’t have anyone in the world except for the family in the house they both were born in, where they had been raised for years, and whose owners were kind enough to let them live there. They never saw their parents.

“You remember, Thomas?” Betty said, “when Bill called you Tommy.”

“Nor did he spare you, Bethaline!” Tommy replied.

They both laughed, for a little while, and then silence took over. Both wanted to say something, something very intense, but none had the courage. The silence was broken by the clamour of the birds, which, now, had woken up due to the rise of dawn.

Tommy remembered how Betty always accompanied him, everywhere, every time, since the beginning of their life. Betty strengthened him in strong storms and Betty played with him in mild rains. Both were together when the wind used to touch their bodies.

All the memories of love crowded their mind. Chronologically everything came to their minds. And then came the memory of the last day, the realization that the separation of these two lovers had been destined. They remember how Bill forgot about his childhood and that he had now decided to cleave one of the two maple trees in his yard, and it was Betty.

Bill, just like others, forgot about the bonds he shared when it came to his personal benefits. Betty, now, would be slashed in pieces and be used for furniture in parts of the world. The sign of humanity going from the city, and so of the greens, started getting clearer. The day when the city, just like any other polluting specie, would clear up all the boons it got from nature, just because the beauty of the house became more important than the beauty of nature.

The time came when two people with chainsaws started cutting through the trunk of the tree. Betty shook up from the pain. Even the birds it raised, which now were homeless, flew away.

“Bye, Tommy.” had been her last words.

Tommy now was left alone, in severe grief of losing his last wealth. Humans forgot love, but inhuman didn’t. One week later, there was no Tommy, but a dry maple tree, ready to be slashed and benefit the owner of the lawn it was standing in.
