Grief of Loss
Under the shadows of trees, in a nearly dilapidated temple, in the middle of a dark forest, left virgin for almost three decades, so dense that even sunlight doesn't reach the ground, in the bitterly cold night of mid-January, facing the wind, cold enough to freeze the blood in veins, sat the little boy whose 12 years old ears couldn't feel the chill anymore, nor did his eyes see the night. He kept sitting there. Tears of grief, obviously frozen and dry, wouldn't come anymore. For the first time, his eyes were emptied not his heart. He wanted to cry out more, but tears wouldn't come out.
He could feel his heart become more and more similar to the temple he could see; dilapidated and ruined, to which no one would set a foot anymore. Even his favorite and only uncle, the moon, left him on his own that day. His mother, as he remembered, always used to tell him that his father had gone to meet his uncle, and he would come back after fetching stars for his dear son to play with. He used to see his uncle moon every night, would greet him, and talk to him. But today, he felt most alone. Even his uncle had left him. The little mind, unable to understand the fact that it was a cloudy night with fog all around, also had no idea that he would be left all alone in the world as an orphan. Little did he know that his mother too had gone to meet his uncle and more priorly, his father and that she would never come back. He was just scared. Because of what he saw a few hours back when his mother was walking in a hurry and slipped down.
The fall wasn't scary, but the results were. For his little eyes, seeing the brain lying out of the fractured skull was one of the scariest sights ever. He ran and ran until he didn't reach the temple. He wanted to meet his mother desperately. But, he was small enough to not realize that this was impossible.
Still, in hope and belief in miracles, he kept praying to God to give him his mother. Suddenly the wind stopped, clouds went away and uncle moon started glancing at him again. Then came a deadly howl. The fear caught hold of the boy.
No one knows if the wish was accepted or not. The only thing known is that the next morning when villagers arrived at the temple in search of the twelve-year-old, they found that at the place where the boy once sat, were now lying some bones with flesh and blood had colored the tile...
